Your personality work style is the peculiar method you adopt in planning, organizing, and executing your work/task. However, the diversity of people in a workplace environment could often generate conflict and miscommunication among workers.
Through the DISC assessment, I discovered my dominant working style is the D style. My second personality style was the S style. My third was the I style and finally the C style. My DISC result is in consonance with my test result from Myers Briggs Personality Test which is the ENTP. Both the ‘D’ style and the ENTP share attributes of being direct, solving problems using their own methodology and tactics, resourceful, outspoken, challenging the status quo, self-starter, risk-taker, and controlling their world and environment. This made me have clarity of the roles and responsibilities that I am most appropriately suited for in order to maximize my productivity. It also helped me to understand my own biases and tendencies so as to minimize their occurrences in certain situations.
The ‘D’ style best describes how I work with others because I am result-oriented, motivated by challenges, never giving up easily, a creative problem solver with improvised tactics of proffering solutions to problems and taking control of my environment. In this way, I could make a meaningful contribution to the growth and development of my team. My interaction with each personality type will become easy and fruitful because as a self-aware individual, I can leverage their strength and unique attributes to foster a productive relationship with sustainable impact.
I would also want to say that environment also influences what personality style becomes dominant at a given time; which indicates that there is a blend of DISC personality styles in most individuals (if not all). Thus, there is a tendency for the D personality style to be active in an individual when driving, then becomes an ‘I’ when interacting with people, etc. If every role or task requires a specific personality style, understanding your dominant work style would help you find satisfaction in the work environment as you will be highly functional.
