DISC personality reflection
It was so interesting to undergo the process and see the outcome of the personality test. According to the DISC personality test, I am an ENFJ- the Teacher. Having a 35% dominance, 30% influence, 28% steadiness and 7% compliance. It states that ENFJs are idealist organizers, driven to implement their vision of what is best for Humanity. They often act as catalysts for human growth because of their ability to see potential in other people and their charisma in leading them. I matched with two other personalities which are ENTJ- The commander and EFSJ-The provider. ENTJs are strategic leaders, motivated to organize change. They are quick to see inefficiency and conceptualize new solutions and enjoy developing long-range plans to accomplish their vision. ESFJs are conscientious helpers, sensitive to the need of others, and energetically dedicated to their responsibilities. Like a sense of humor and cooperation around them and are eager to please and provide.
I agree with the results of the personality test and its matches. This is so because I can relate my life experiences and qualities to the results. While in college, I was privileged to help out in several leadership positions. Three of those positions were under sports namely, the soccer captain, the team B, and ladies soccer, and finally, the sports representative in the student union. During my time of service in college, I was motivated to see my fellow students perform well in sports. I did my best to help them improve for the better. I accomplished this by designing strategies that can help the individual’s performance. This and other qualities match the description in the test results. When I was watching the personality type’s video, I thought that I had more chances of having an influencer dominant result for that is what was perfectly matching. It turned out to be slightly different in the end.
I believe that there is a relationship between work and a given personality. This is so because one influences the other. A person’s personality might be influenced by the type of work they are into. Sometimes certain types of personalities fit a given job or work. This is one of the tips that institutions when recruiting people. I encouraged our Executive Director to take the DISC personality test because I was curious about the outcome. He fell under the visionary category and had a high percentage in dominance. His results matched the provider and commander. I agree with this for being a founder of Love Driven Ministries means that he has a vision and he is determined to see it being executed on the actual ground. According to the DISC personality video, one of the characteristics of a dominant person is that they try as much as possible to get what they want no matter what is in front of them. Other teachers are also determined and ready to make a difference in other people's lives. They are interested in motivating other people to reach their potential and excel in the things they are engaged in. A commander element is also present in them for they need to enforce certain behaviors in learners.
The DISC personal test has helped me to officially realize where I belong as far as my personality type is concerned. It will also help me to under other people in the same lines. Unnecessary judgments and arguments will be avoided for one of the causes of misunderstandings might be influenced based on personality types.
